Risk and Resiliency
File name: R&R
By R. Van Horn

This presentation contains a comprehensive review of the research literature on "at risk" and "resilient" children. The presentation ends with a section describing what schools can do to help children become more resilient to the risk factors they encounter.

This is an example of the kind of work the ElectronicScholar intends to promote and distribute. The presentation is well documentedset your PowerPoint to view or print the Notes pagesand extremely persuasive in the hands of a scholar/presenter who is willing to study the original sources on which the presentation is based.

To make the presentation usable by the widest possible audience, it is in the form of a Macintosh PowerPoint 3 file. Originally R&R included digital video and audio taken from a Laserdisc by CBS Music Video Enterprises titled, "A Tribute to Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly." This television documentary contained video footage and original songs performed by artists such as Bruce Springsteen that fit nicely with the theme of "at risk" children. See for example the song performed in the special, "I ain't got no home." Unfortunately, it was impossible to obtain the rights to reproduce this material.
