Browser and Internet Configuration Hints Browser Hints 1. For best results, set your computer monitor to 800x600 or similar size and use external speakers or a headphone. 2. The Study of Teaching Videos are in QuickTime streaming video format. All Web browsers since 3.0 have the ability to play QuickTime movies--all you need is to have the QuickTime player installed on your computer. If you cannot see the videos the easiest fix it is to download a recent, free version of the QuickTime player from the Apple Web site: http://www.apple.com/quicktime. After installing the free QuickTime player, you may have to restart your computer. QuickTime Hints 1. QuickTime works best if it knows what kind of Internet connection you have. On a Mac, go to Apple Menu: Control Panels: QuickTime Settings. Pull down the panel at the top and select Connection Speed. On a PC, go to Start: Settings: Control Panels: QuickTime. If you purchase QuickTime Pro from Apple, you gain the ability to save most videos to your hard drive. Internet Hints 1. The Internet is especially congested from about 3-9:00 PM, local time on weekdays. 2. Consider your time zone. If you are on the east coast of the U.S. the best time to use the Internet is before 10:00 am because people on the west coast are asleep. Likewise, if you're on the west coast after 9:00 PM is a good time since people on the east coast are asleep. 3. Consider upgrading your Internet connection to a DSL line or a broadband cable modem. 4. If you have a slow Internet connection at home, try to view the Study of Teaching Videos at a university, business, or school. Advanced Browser Hints 1.
