The class is nearing the end of a literature-based unit on the book, "Stone Soup." The class actually made stone soup using boilded rocks and vegetables brought to class by the teacher. Note the way the children sit and follow along as they read.

Study Questions
1. The teacher has a four-step introduction. Describe each step and its purpose.
2. Describe the verbal and nonverbal actions of the teacher as she helps the African American male student find reading partners.
3. Children have their favorite places to read. What makes these places their favorites?
4. Describe the posture and physical actions of the students as they read to one another.
